Wahoo! The tragedy know as Hurricane Katrina is over!
With at least three shoots under way in New Orleans being able to escape the wrath of Hurrican Katrina all of Hollywood breathed a sigh of relief in knowing Hollywood’s own were safe.
Among our beloved Hollywood folk working included, indie feature "The Last Time," starring Michael Keaton; the Eye's "Vampire Bats," starring Lucy Lawless; and Sony's direct-to-video pic "Road House 2," starring Johnathon Schaech.
Now all of Hollywood wonders about future productions. What to do , what to do if New Orleans isn’t ready for our Hollywood crews?
According to Variety projects in pre-production include Lifetime pilot "Scarlett," which was about to start shooting, and two Disney projects: "Deja Vu" and "The Guardian."
"Scarlett" had not yet begun lensing. A spokesman for the cabler said it is "looking at all sorts of options. Things are vague right now." The skein is set in New Orleans and revolves around an Anne Rice-type horror writer, but shooting could conceivably move to another city.
Disney's "The Guardian," starring Kevin Costner and directed by Andrew Davis, was skedded for a November start in the New Orleans area. Producer Tripp Vinson said production is still on schedule.
Ironically, the water tank built for the film is intact, Vinson added, and scouts already are checking for locations in Baton Rouge and other nearby cities.
FX skein "Thief" was skedded to start shooting Sept. 28 and end right before Thanksgiving, with an eye to bowing the show in the second quarter of 2006.
Warner's feature "The Reaping" was shooting in Baton Rouge. A Warner spokesman said the cast and crew had flown to Austin, Texas. Crew is expected to return to Baton Rouge soon and they hope to resume shooting Tuesday after a scheduled Labor Day break.
With the crew still out of town, it was too early to determine if any sets had been damaged.
Some producers stuck to their plans to shoot in the city, despite television images of broken bridges, ruptured levees and entire neighborhoods submerged.
Largely overlooked in the aftermath of Monday's destruction was the lesser damage suffered by South Florida as a considerably weaker Katrina swiped the area last week.
Universal's "Miami Vice" was shut down Thursday and Friday last week out of concern for the safety of the crew. Sets were dark over the weekend and went back to production Monday.
A U spokesman said they had padding in the schedule so they're not behind, but shooting in Miami may be extended a couple of days.
Shoot moves to the Dominican Republic for completion and is skedded to end Nov. 8.
Let’s all pray for our Hollywood friends and that production doesn’t get held back by small matters such as floods and complete destruction of a city.
The NYDN’s spins a different tale today in contrast to the Post report . today, Paris and Nicky Hilton certainly looked like they'd reached the top floor at the Setai penthouse party. As a hand-rolled cigarette floated around their little group, the hotel heiresses giggled with Nicky's boyfriend, "Entourage" star Kevin Connolly, and other friends.
Paris' fiancé, Paris Latsis, wasn't there. But the "Simple Life" star was wearing her engagement ring, and, despite some whispers, she spoke in the fondest terms of her betrothed the night before at her father, Rick's, 50th-birthday party.
Raising a glass at the family's Southampton estate, Paris said how she was happy to have found a man like her dad - who clearly taught his daughters something about presents. Paris gave him a platinum, diamond-studded Rolex; he got a lovely Cartier desk clock from Nicky.
Wife Kathy showed her love by picking up a mike and belting out "I Will Survive," "Vogue" and other dance anthems

The NYPOST reports that Paris Hilton cast more doubt on her supposedly impending nuptials to Paris Latsis during the MTV Video Music Awards festivities in Miami.
The tab reports that the party-hearty heiress seemed less than enthused about marrying the Greek-born Latsis when a pal asked her about it Sunday morning at Pharrell Williams' bash at the Yahoo! Music Penthouse high atop the Setai hotel.
"I don't know," Hilton shrugged when pressed about whether she was really getting hitched. "I'm just having fun!"
She further fueled speculation by holding hands with Scott Storch, the executive producer of her upcoming album and her constant companion over the weekend.
Storch, the mastermind behind such hits as 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" and Beyoncé's "Baby Boy," put Hilton up at his lavish South Beach mansion, which features a 100-foot yacht docked behind it. The former boyfriend of jail-bound rapper Lil' Kim also escorted Hilton to the award show after pulling up to the red carpet in a silver Ferarri.
But Hilton mouthpiece Rob Zimmerman claimed all was well with the same-named couple. "Paris is very happy and in love with Paris, and the wedding is still on," he said. "Warner Brothers flew Paris and Scott down for the VMAs to bring some attention to the album. They're just friends."
The NYPOST reports that when Martha Stewart eliminates the first contestant on her version of "The Apprentice," she'll substitute Donald Trump's trademark "You're fired!" with the less catchy, "You just don't fit in" . . . eww! That is just bad! Come on Martha you are more creative than that!
Fabian Basabe makes Brittny Gastineau wash his pants.
Fabian loses his jacket and leaves the cattle drive to find it - it IS a 2000.00 jacket after all.
Poor Fabian could not find his jacket. He was very sad and wanted people to help him find it.
Jerad found Fabian's jacket. Yay!! It was a 2000.00 jacket!
It was discovered that Fabian, George and Shanna had awol'd. It was alarming because someone saw a bear and that bear might eat them. They were later found in town at a saloon type establishment. They had taken a cab to town to go shopping.
The wayward team members tried to bribe them with gifts but the cattle drivers were still pissed.
Fabian said he was going to town to pick up paper plates and laundry soap. Fabian brought up legal representation - he said that nobody accuses me of a crime.
The head cattle guy said there was four people that always pitched in to help. George was one of them but since he took off to town with Fabian and Shanna, he didn't get to come to the rodeo.
The cops roll up on the scene and Fabian strolls out...
Next week: Fabian arrested? Not with diplomatic immunity!
