I’m having a really really bad day. Did anyone else not know that there are 31 days in May? Who could of guessed that. More on that in just a bit. My day started pretty normal at 5:10 this morning. Grabbed my swim stuff got on my bike and biked it to swim practice. I was running a little late but fortunately I still made it in time. Once in the water I felt stiff and tired. Maybe it was the four times I woke up at various times last night.
Here is the workout:
400 swim warmup
100 swordfish drill / 200 Free breathe by 50 every 3, 5, any or 7 / 400 Pull / 100 swordfish drill / 200 Free breathe by 50 every 3, 5, any or 7 (all continuos)
8x100’s Free on 1:20
800 Free For Time (i did this in 9:45) I so wasn’t feeling it at this point. The first 300 was a challenge for two reasons. One everyone is my lane went 5 seconds apart so at every turn we were all on top of each. This aggravates me, I feel a bit claustrophobic and you are battling against the wake of the other swimmers. Secondly the lane next to us was the fast stroke lane so every time I pushed off the wall I had the wake from both sides of me. It was like pushing off and hitting a wall at every deep end turn. The stroke lane person was doing butterfly so the wake was pretty strong. After the first 300 the distance between myself and the 2nd and 3rd person grew by each 100 till by the last lap of the 800 I was about to lap the other lane mates.
200 East 50 free/ 50 stroke
5x50’s on 1:00ish. The coach send us off about every minute. We started at the deep end and sprinted to the shallow end and came back easy. I did the sprints butterfly and the easy freestyle.
So then I bike back home, have my morning protein shake and got dressed from work. Yesterday I had car trouble (brakes went out) so I knew I had to get the car to the auto place one block away. As I started my car and started to pull out I heard a clunk. So I got out of my car and was about to just walk to work and leave the car there. Oh wait, no I was going to call AAA. But then I remembered I didn’t renew my AAA last month. Do I call and have it reinstated and then ask for a tow or do I dare drive my car one block away. I drove.
Dropped my car off and walked the five blocks to my office. Damn it was hot today. I walked and walked under the sun and sweated my ass off. By the time I got to work I had to pee so bad I thought I was going to pee my pants. And of course I missed the elevator and had to wait and wait what seemed like an eternity. When you got to pee so bad time goes by so slow. Got into work 15 minutes late (still one of the first people in) flew to the rest room and then that is when the 31 reared it’s ugly head.
Not to get specific about my job but yesterday I though there was one 30 days in May and that today Wednesday would be June 1st. So any appointments, meetings, deadlines that were for today the 31st I told everyone they had to June 1st thinking that it would be today and not tomorrow. Got it! So I had to scramble and call, page and email twenty something people to rearrange everything. So far I think it may all work out...unless I forgot someone. Doh! Only time will tell. Oh and as for my car I should hopefully get it back later today or early tomorrow. If I don’t check back tomorrow as I carry a sheet cake from the supermarket to the office. Fun Fun!
