Trolling the web I keep finding more and more Pink Flamingo Photos this time from TeamNY Aquatics website. Click HERE for more photos. Oh and FYI this is the very first photo that I am actually pictured in this one.
I’ve never been good a those Magic Eye puzzles. I’ve never seen the space shuttle or the pirate ship is the midst of rainbow colored squiggles. So it came as no surprise that when my swim team Gay Games tshirts came out I couldn’t figure out the design. Go take a look at it to the right of these words and remember what you see before you read this next line. So you see two swimmers below a water polo player all in white with black lettering of WH2O above. At first I saw the polo player but no swimmers. But once someone pointed them out it was like a duh moment and now I see them every time.
Now last night in a dream I saw an army of men wearing them. Well maybe not an army but a wall of men wearing the shirt. I didn’t get past the wall of men in the shirts as my cell phone alarm woke me up in time for swim practice. I guess I’ll never know why I was dreaming of the tshirt design last night. Maybe, just maybe my dreams are like a Magic Eye print, something I’ll never understand.

75 easy warm down
During the warmup im i twisted the muscle in my arm and for the rest of the workout I was experiencing a bit of pain in my right arm. Other than that today was a decent swim. I skipped swimming all weekend and went to the gym instead which I need to decide which I’ll be doing from now on. Swimming or gym on the weekends. On one hand I like going to the gym since I can take it at my own time and stretch it out but on the other I really need to get in some good swims. Since it is only Monday I have a few days to decide. Till next time.
After ignoring many of my coaches for the last two years it took another coach from another team to get my attention. At the Gay Games during the 1500 the person counting for me and the person counting for the swimmer in the next lane compared and contrasted my swimming to the other swimmers. Later my counter pointed out a few things mentioning that the person counting next to him was a coach for another team who suggested a few things about my swimming. Two of the three have to do with my turns. I’ve always known my turns sucked but have been working on them. The second thing that they noticed was my push off and streamline. I always come up before the flags. You are allowed to stay under water kicking for about 15 yards if I’m not mistaken. Considering the kicking underwater is faster than the actual swimming the longer you can go the better your advantage is. I’ve always been about 2 yards before I got up and started my first stroke.
My reasoning behind my short streamlines has always been that since I’m short for a swimmer, I’m 5’9”, no matter what I do the taller swimmers will always come up ahead of me. But with that out of my mind this week and the advice fresh in my mind I decided to work on my turns and streamlines this week. Although I’m struggling with breathing taking a the first breath as soon as I pop out of the water I did notice that side by side comparison with the person in the next lane I always came up before him. So maybe I was wrong all this time and the coaches were always right. The fact that it took someone from the outside to get it to sink in with me is not new to my boyfriend. He’ll be the first to tell you that he can tell me something a million times and I don’t acknowledge it to someone else says the same thing. Hey, I’m a thick head. Watch this clip from YouTube to see some really great streamlines.

Once again continuing from Wednesday I feel the strongest and fastest that I’ve ever felt in swim practice. After a week of tapering and a week of competing I feel really great in the water. Now I just got to work on my flip turns and streamlines off the wall for the next few months.
