Sunday, the day of not resting! This morning after waking up hung over I headed to the 10am Water Polo practice, came home and had a quick lunch around 1pm and then dove back in the pool for the 3pm Swim practice. Last week when I did this I could hardly lift my arms and once again my arms are like weights. I started to cramp up at the end of swim and had to get out and walk around during a recovery 50 but I made it through the whole workout.
The one thing that both the bf and I are shocked about is that not only have I stayed committed to swimming for 2 ½ years so far I’m keeping at Water Polo. And I intend to stick with it. I’m not normally a patient guy and can get frazzled but I’ve been able to let it go and listen to people’s tips and advice. It’s the only way I’ll ever get better. Yes I have a lot to learn and implement but I’m having a blast playing right now. When I played for about a 1 ½ years back when I was about 12/13 I don’t remember enjoying it as much. I think the fact everyone is being pretty understanding and trying to help me out that makes this go around easier.
As for practice this morning we had a quick warm up then it was tossing and drill time. Another teammate noticing I was doing pretty bad pulled me aside and help me with my throwing the ball. Then we got back to some shooting drills. After that it was scrimmage time. Each workout I’m trying to spend more and more time scrimmaging but when I am on the sidelines I try to watch what everyone else is doing. And from time to time others waiting give me tips. So at least when I’m not actually playing I’m learning.
After Water Polo my hangover was burned away and it was time for breakfast. After waiting for an eternity to be seated and actually get the food it was time to run home grab my swim stuff and get to practice. Workout was so fucking tough. The combination of morning Water Polo and a hard workout just wiped me out. For warmup I started off with a 400 mixed then we did a warm up set. I forgot what it was exactly but it was a set of broken 200’s with drill, swim and kick all mixed in.
3x200 Yards Fee on 2:45, then 2:35 and then finishing up on 2:25. I loafed the first one and slowly build to the very end going fast.
4x50 Yards Stroke. I did the first one back stroke then I did 25 Free easy and 25 Butterfly fast.
2x200 Yards Free on 2:35 and 2:25.
4x75’s Yards IM no Free. I died. Pretty much touched and go on these.
200 Yards Free on 2:25. Did I mention I died before even getting to the last 200. I started to get cramps in both legs and my left foot. But I wanted to finish the set so I pushed on but slowed up.
4x100 Yards Stroke. I did the first three backstroke and the last one butterfly. When my arms are tired and sore it is actually easier for me to do butterfly than any other stroke. It is just the breathing that gets to me.
While everyone was doing a 50 easy I got out and walked around the pool to workout the cramps.
Next Set was done twice. Umm…it was I think a 100 drill followed by 4x25 stroke. I did the 25’s butterfly.
Our warmdown set was six 50’s. Underwater swimming for the 1st 25 easy free back to the wall. After that I just came home and watched some tv on the couch until I did this post. Well that is it for now, till next time.
