Yowser! Thursday's workout was one tough workout. Warm up was easy with a 400 swim, 300 pull and a 200 kick.
After that it was time for our warm up set. 6x100's drill/swim. The drill being at every 3rd stroke you'd do a 6 count kick focusing pausing your stroke. I didn't get the concept. Then again I just don't get drills.
The Main or Killer Set:
12x100's (3 sets of 4x100)
then a 100 easy at the end of the 12. This has to be the toughest set I've done in some time. I was getting more rest the third round. I shouldn't have but I guess I was on a roll. Only myself and one other person made this set. Ouch! I told you it was a killer set!
6x100 kick/swim on 1:40 stroke. I did these some butter/back/breast/free combos. I hate kicking so this set was bloody murder.
20x50 (4 sets of 5x50 - one round each stroke) on 55
3. easy (easy free for the butter and breast rounds)
4. sprint - hold the same pace.
Finishing up with a 500. Not a warmdown 500 or an easy 500 or a sprint 500. Just a 500 at a good pace so that you are breathing heavy but not to heavy at the end. This was non-stop but broken up 100 free, 300 IM (swim/drill/swim), 100 free.
At the end of this workout I was sore. It was nice to go home, eat and watch tv on the couch. This morning I woke up and went on a quick 3.5 mile run. Ran down Olympic to Beverly to Wilshire back down Robertson. It's the super duper car guy run as I run past a Bentley, Ferrari, Lotus, Maserati, BMW and a few other cool car dealerships. Gotta love running in Beverly Hills.
