As you can see I was really feeling strong and somehow managed to descend by 2 seconds on each one. Don't know how that worked out but it did.
Usually I'm the first one to bitch about time wasting sets during workout but once a year around Halloween we do a Halloween Pumpkin Relay that I look forward to. Our coach divides us up and gives each team a little pumpkin. The first relay you are not allowed to get the little handful sized pumpkin to go underwater. At the end you must place it on deck. For that relay our team was way behind but then I caught up but the persons after me couldn't cinch the deal and we got out touched. The second relay you are allowed to keep the pumpkin underwater. We won by a body length. One of my team mates placed the pumpkin in his speedo for safe keeping.
As fall and November is here our outdoor pool's heater is now on. That is not a good thing. The water is almost getting too warm. During tonight's swim the water felt warm but not yet horrible. Close.

After a few so so workouts the last week or so it was nice to be full steam last night. My arms were a bit sore from doing weights in the morning but I still kept going. When I got home at like 8:45 I ate a quick meal and was in bed by 9:30. I was beat.
After sleeping most of Saturday away it was no wonder even with a tough swim on Sunday that last night I was struck with insomnia. After falling asleep I woke up about 30 minutes later. Tossing and turning for another hour I gave up and hit the couch. Finally falling asleep a tad before 3am. At 5am the alarm on my phone went off and it was time to get ready for swim. It's now 11:48 and I need a nap. I'll sleep well tonight. But no naps after work as I have a 7pm therapy session.
Warmed up around a 400.
Then a 400 50 drill / 50 swim. Turnout was so low at 6am that I had my own lane and everyone else just had two per lane except the one slow lane had one person. That means 10 people showed up.
200 Kick / 400 Pull Breath control by 50 every 3/5/any/7
6x100's on 1:15. I was all by msyelf here. The next closest lane was on 1:25.

Not really a tough workout. Funny thing was that I wasn't too tired. Of course If I had someone to race against I'm sure I would have been more tired.
I hate swimming in a yard pool as it takes too much math to figure out what I'll be swimming in a meters pool for a meet. For example today we did a set of 6x100's SCY, correction I did a set all on 1:15. I pretty much was on a 1:07 pace. Right after that we all did a 400 for time. Tired from the six one hundreds and no one to race against I tried to pace myself and ended up with a time of 4:38. I know you cant compare a 400 Yard time to a 400 Meter time but my best 400 Meter time is 4:40.71. The only comparison I can make is this:
100 Freestyle Best Times: 00:55.79 for Yards 1:00.96 for Meters
200 Freestyle Best Times: 02:02.17 for Yards 02:12.23 for Meters.
So if I was at my best I'm guess I should have been at 4:20ish. Of course these are workout times so you really can't compare. It's just the more I blog about swimming and read swimming blogs the more I think about my times.
Yesterday after swimming it was time to do some laundry. While cleaning and drying the endless amount of clothes and towels I was listening to the Timed Finals podcast in which they talked about Amanda Beard being the new Go Daddy Girl. So with a quick search of YouTube I found the commercial with swimmings most popular female which happens to have my childhood hero Mark Spitz. Check out the video below
