Dumb and Fat Residents in Santa Monica upset over fit people working out in grass knolls. This morning after waking up I could hear the pitter patter of rain but since I was already dressed to go swimming I decided to head out. By the time I left the rain had stopped. It was just a shower. Once at the pool I really felt like crawling back to bed. Once in the pool it just got worse. But I rallied during the workout and finished it strong.
Warmed up a very slow 250.
Warm Up Set: 4x100's Kick on 1:40 4x50's Drill 4x100's Swim on 1:25. 25 rotating IM stroke / 75 Free

1x200 on 2:30 3x100's on 1:15 1x200 on 2:45 (was suppose to be 2:30 but waited for lane mate to catch up and I wanted to square up the clock) 1x100 IM on 1:30 6x50's on 50 descend 1-3 & 4-6 (I did them all backstroke) 1x100 IM on 1:30
I swam with one other swimmer who is about my speed. Maybe a bit faster in shorter distances. I let him go first and went 10 seconds behind him but he lost steam during the first round and buy the 5th of 6x100's I had passed him. I kept going on my intervals and he just followed me for the rest of the workout. By the 2nd round of the main set I was hurting. I pulled the first 200 and swam the rest. I'm glad I stayed in and finished it up. My legs were jelly but I finished it.
It's been a while since I've done a post in Worked Out Celebs but here are the ever so hot Jake Gyllenhaal and his oh wasn't she good in Election girlfriend Reese Witherspoon. According to Sociallite LINK they went for a jog together with their personal trainer in Santa Monica.
Tonight was the weekly Niketown Nike Run Club LA. As usual I ran the 5 mile loop but screwed up the pause/unpause at one red light stop so I did not get my time. I know I was running at a descent pace better than last weeks 44 minute 5 mile run. The first 1/2 of the run I was two faster runners but after the hill it was all downhill for
me. Right before the hill is the red light on Sunset Blvd which I always get and have time to get some rest and my second wind. But not tonight. It was pretty much stop and then go without any rest. The top of the hill after the light is about the 2 1/2 mile marker so after that I'm usually pretty good for the rest of the run. But since I haven't been running it was torture. I slowly fell behind the two guys and was by myself for the next 2 miles.
My running is like my swimming. I'm not really up with the fasties but I'm a bit head of the rest of the group. So once I get to the 1/2 way point I'm all by myself. This keeps on happening so I either need to get faster or just keep back with the group. In running I'm happy keeping back. Then again in swimming during practice I like keeping at a moderate pace. As I'm typing this I'm hoping no fasties show up in the morning for the 6am practice. I so don't look forward to 100's freestyle on 1:10.
Before the run started I was a bit early just sitting around waiting when one of the run organizers got me to try on the new Nike Equalon+ 3's. Mind you, he didn't know I have this little blog or that I would be writting about the sneakers. So this is a completely non-biased, non-freebie given report on the sneakers. Every week you can try on and run with Nike sneakers. But I never partake and just run with my current pair of Nike sneakers. Within minutes three of us were running with the Equalon+ 3's. I gotta admit I was a bit leary. I am currently running with the older Equalon's which I feel don't offer me enough ankle suport. But after running 5 miles in the Equalon+ 3's I never once felt any ankle weakness. Of course they are new so who knows. It would be interesting to see if they hold up over a few runs. Since I'm hoping to get a new pair of sneakers before the end of the year I am putting Nike back on my shopping list.
Some info on the Nike Zoom Equalon+ 3 Men's Running Shoe:
Nike+ enabled for instant workout feedback when used with a Nike SportBand or iPod® nano and Nike+ iPod Sport Kit
Breathable sandwich mesh upper with surrounding synthetic panels for support
Foam Cushlon ST midsole for a dynamic and stable ride
Large Duralon insert for outstanding cushioning and traction
Heel and forefoot Nike Zoom units for low-profile cushioning and lightweight performance
Flexible forefoot outsole for great toe-off
Durable BRS 1000 carbon rubber outsole
Nike Zoom: lightweight, super-responsive performance cushioning. Incredibly thin, Nike Zoom brings the foot closer to the ground for optimum feel and aggressive maneuverability. Very light. Very responsive.
How Max Air Works: Maximum impact cushioning. The brutal, repetitive, downward force of sport can wreak havoc on the body—and on performance. Max Air cushioning is specifically engineered to handle these impacts and provide protection. Max Air is big air designed to take a pounding.
I ran with the size 9 1/2 and they felt very comfortable. I'm usually a 9 in a shoe but go up to the 1/2 for swelling of the feet from running. Being flat footed and an overpronator picking the right shoe is critical. Which leads me to my question of the night for all you runners and semi-runners "What kind of running sneaker are you currently wearing and why?" Feel free to comment below.
Image via WikipediaIn the latest issue of Men's Health, Electronic Arts speculated about a "westernized" version of Wii Fit. The new game rumored to be called EA Fitness will come with a peripheral that "strap the remotes to their arms or legs to facilitate more athletic movements, from running to jumping jacks, providing more authentic, full range of motions."
Really? So you want me to attach what to my what now? Yes the balance board is flawed and Wii Fit is sorta annoying in that oh so cute Japanese animation sort of way but wearing my Wiimote? The game better be good with graphics too boot.
