Well since my shoulder is still mending I am mainly focusing on the gym and my legs this week. Although I think I'm feeling better and just itching to swim. I started off with an easy 5 mile run on the treadmill. I've never been a really fast runner but damn am I out of shape. Then again I do run slower on a treadmill then I do with a group on land. I was running at about a 10.5 pace per mile. That is so much slower than I use to run a year ago. But I'm running and that counts for something.
After that run I hit the weights for a bit. Now this is a bit trickier with my shoulder issues. Some range of motions are easy and painless while others just feel odd even at this stage of my recovery. So I skip around my old routine and if I feel any bit of pain or oddness I stop and move on. No need to hurt myself any more than I am already.
Then it was time for 24 Cycle. I gotta admit after a 5 mile run hitting a spin class is a bit much. But I made it and had a damn good workout in that class. One thing that is something I need to remember is that I need to bring a new shirt to 24 Cycle. After the running my shirt is soaked. I carry a towel and I don't mind being all wet while I lift as I just wipe down the machines. But the 24 Cycle class is in a cooler room so for the first 15 minutes I feel so gross wearing a soaking wet shirt.
Tomorrow I was planning on getting up for the morning swim practice but I've decided to skip it. I'll hit the evening lap swim and kick again. I may and I say may try to swim in the morning on Thursday. It's a lap swim so I can take my time. I figure at any time I feel any hint of pain I'll stop. Plus I can take lots of rest without the pressure of holding up a practice workout lane.
