Swimnetwork tosses out this little tidbit "The oldest American record on the books today is Janet Evans' 800-meter free -- 8:16.22 -- set twenty-one years ago in August, 1989."

Well, according to Swimming World "WHILE his RCP Tiburon Mile has been on a Swimming World Magazine cover multiple times since its creation, Bob Placak has never been on the cover.
