Grrr…today's swim was a struggle.
Mixed 450 warm up.
200 kick. (650)
I don't remember the order of the workout. It's all a blur. Mostly 50's then 25's.
4x75's something/kick/something (300/950)
400 Easy breathing every 3 or was this the 300 breathing every 3. We did a 400 and a 300 during the workout. (300+400/1650)
4x50's Free FAST on 60 (200/1850)
2x100's Kick. Was 3 but had to make my kicking pee break. (200/2050)
6x100's on 2:15 Stroke Drill / Easy Free / Stroke Sprint / Easy Free. Fly/Back/Breast (600/2650)
I guess that was it before the 25's
Three Rounds 4x25's. One Finger Tip Drill / Catch Up Drill / Pace / Fast by 25. (300/2950)
Then more 25's. I think 8. (200/3150)
I guess that was it. More or less. OH yeah between the kick and the breath control set we did 4x50's pushing off and staying under water then swimming back. So another 200 for 3,350 yards. It was mostly a drill workout. Which I'm okay and not okay with. I'm always conflicted with back to basics swimming workouts. On one hand I love them cuz' lets face it I need all the fixing I can get. But on the other hand sometimes it just feels so disjointed. Because my stroke taken apart and dissected is very slow I am always struggling to keep up when it's on an interval. Something always gives and usually it's the drill. Or after doing the drill instead of focusing on the swim portion making sure I use what I learned in the drill I'm usually just trying to play catch up. Oh well my freestyle is so messed up right now I don't know if I'm coming or going when I'm swimming. At least as always I got in a workout today. At the very least since I'm being a bit more consistent I'm back on track on my yardage. Hopefully I'll get in a 30 minute swim tomorrow. I'm still 40 miles off pace for the year so far to make it to 300 miles in 2012 but that is okay.
