So much fin use. Not enough paddle use! Of course that is my opinion. I struggle with kicking. Add in the fins and it just gets worse. It may just be my Yellow Zoomers. When I kick with them my feet seem to go way apart making my kick wide and huge. This then tweaks my lower back making me in so much pain and off kilter. Once I take those damn fins off I'm feeling great. Still slow but great! I really need to get a new pair of fins and see if that helps any. Considering that we use fins a lot during the workout I really need to get ones that work best for me. Swimmer Magazine had a Fin Testing video…
The Workout...
600 Warm Up Mixed
200 Kick
3x100's 3 right/left arm drill /catch up/Kick/Something. I think that is what we did. So much drilling.
350 (was to be a 300 but we miscounted. well not me but I went along) Alternating by 25 Catch Up Drill and Build. (1450 so far)
Main Set
10x100's on 1:35 Pace. I didn't intend to swim these as a 1,000 race strategy but I did. I started at 1:13 then 1:13, 1:12, 1:13, 1:12, 1:12, 1:12, 1:11, 1:10 and a 1:08. (1,000/2450)
Hmm…was it into kick or the 50's?
6x50's Kick or a non-stop 300 for me. (300/2750)
8x50's. Catch up or some more drilling for the 1st 25 then sprint back. (400/3150)
8x25's Drill (200/3350)
Then I think it was 8 more 25's Drill/Sprint. (200/3550)
Since it was/is Tuesday I swam a 25 to the other end to help with lane lines but walked back so 3,575 yards today. Just keeping steady being behind about 40 miles in my YTD Go The Distance Swim. But at least I'm back from my non-swimming month of June! Now just gotta get some garbage yardage swims in!
