Here is the most recent commercial from Visa’s Go World campaign, featuring Team Visa athlete Michael Phelps, which has yet to debut on television.
Titled “100th of a Second,” the spot features Phelps’ legendary .01 second 100m butterfly win in which he won his 7th gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The spot is woven with footage of his dramatic win and images of actions that take more than .01 seconds – the beating of a hummingbird’s wings, lighting striking – while the narrator asks fans “just think of the cheers if lighting strikes twice.”
With the London 2012 Olympic Games being dubbed the “most social games ever,” Visa is encouraging fans to join together and cheer for Team Visa athletes leading up to and during the Games to create a Global Cheer. Visa’s Facebook page serves as the central hub for fans to create, share and view cheers (via photos, videos and posts) for 69 Team Visa athletes around the world, using Visa’s Cheer application. Fans can also post cheers and view additional commercials at Visa’s YouTube Channel (hyperlink) and cheer using #VisaGoWorld on Twitter (@TeamVisa).
In a unique twist, US fans who submit photo and video cheers will have an opportunity for their own 15-seconds of fame, as Visa will select the best cheers to appear in special edition commercials that will air during the London 2012 Olympic Games celebrating the accomplishments of Team Visa athletes.
