Lane 3- io9 posts "Eight years after the Athens Olympics, many venues have been left to rot. he Greek embassy estimated that it cost Greece €8.954 billion to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2004, including the construction of the Olympic Village and several shiny new athletic venues. Since then, though, many of those venues have been abandoned, making one Olympic legacy a set of decaying structures. (Abandoned training pool in the Olympic village. They appear to delight in sitting on debris that floats on the half-filled pool's murky waters."
Lane 4 - The Sydney Morning Herald posts "Why swimming coach Nugent won't be left high and dry. Having openly stated his goal coming into the London Games was to finish second on both the gold and overall medal tallies, only to see his team finish with one gold and sixth in the standing, it's not surprising there has been talk about the future of head coach Leigh Nugent. In reality it is just talk. He signed a new contract in February which will take him through to the Rio Olympics in 2016, and while the results in London will be looked upon as disappointing - although the team did tie with China for second in overall medals with 10, behind the USA's 30 - Nugent will be safe, even though he wasn't exuding confidence."

Lane 6 - The Daily Star posts "Palestinians take pride in swimmer's performance. A small group of swimmers sat pinned to a television set in Hebron on Friday to watch fellow Palestinian Sabine Hazboun stroke her way through the London Olympic pool in 50m Freestyle. "Come on Sabine!" the Hebron swimmers cheered, and "go, go!" they urged on the Bethlehem native, who came in 51st out of 74."

Lane 8 - Metro Weekly posts "Swim for Life Beats Goal. DCAC's annual fundraiser nearly doubles 2011 effort, benefiting Metro TeenAIDS and others. The accounting is in from the 21st Annual Maryland Swim for Life, held July 14 and hosted by the District of Columbia Aquatics Club (DCAC), a swimming and social club for LGBT and allied swimmers. For the sake of D.C.'s Metro TeenAIDS – as well as Heart to Hand, Quality of Life Retreats, the Chester River Association and the Chester River Valley Ministers Association – the U.S. Masters Swimming-sanctioned event raised $39,500. That's nearly twice as much as the $20,000 raised in 2011."
