After months of pushing to get into the mix to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, Jacksonville has dropped its bid because seating capacity at Veterans Memorial Arena is significantly smaller than other competing cities."

Beijing Olympics gold medalist Garrett Weber-Gale will address the benefits of sound nutrition and an active lifestyle Wednesday at the White House. The leadership of the “Let’s Move!” initiative, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama in 2010, invited Weber-Gale to be one of six speakers on hand for its presentation scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 at the White House. The presentation begins at 9 a.m. ET and is expected to run through noon local time. The First Lady also will address the gathering. WhiteHouse.gov will offer a live webcast of the event."
Lane 5 - The Coffs Coast Advocate posts "Legendary Olympic heroes special guests at Bonville lunch. The theme of the lunch is 100m freestyle Olympic Medallists for Australia with four legends winning medals over an incredible 52 year span at the Olympic Games. The 100m freestyle event at the Olympics is often referred to as the "blue riband" event in which legends are made. John Devitt claimed a silver medal on home soil in Melbourne in 1956, then went one better four years later in Rome. Michael Wenden won gold in Mexico City 1968, Mark Stockwell claimed silver in Los Angeles in 1984 and Eamon Sullivan picked up silver in Beijing in 2008. Joining the Aussie stars will be one of America's superstars of the Los Angeles games. Tracey Caulkins, who met her future husband Mark Stockwell in one of the Olympic pools at the Games, was a medley specialist winning three gold medals on home soil."
Lane 6 - Sioux City Journal posts "Olympic athletes to hold swim clinic in Sioux City. Olympic swimmers Kara Lynn Joyce, a four-time silver medalist, and Jimmy Feigen, a 2012 silver medalist, will host a Fitter & Faster Tour swim clinic March 17 in Sioux City. Joyce, a three-time Olympic competitor, was the first woman in history to sweep the 50, 100, and 200 NCAA titles. Davis earned a spot on the 2012 Olympics in London, where he won a silver medal in the 4x100 freestyle relay."
