On My Nightstand
The 800

Thursday Night Swim

To swim or not to swim that is the question.  Tonight I had to decide on going to a spin class or go swimming but with rain predicted over the next few days I figured swimming was the winner.  I plan on getting up and heading to the 6am practice but depending on how heavy the rains our we may not be able to swim.  I can always make the noon spin class anyways.  Maybe swim and spin even!

Warm Up was a 300 swim and a 200 drill.  For the 300 I worked on my turns.  Trying to keep at it.  I will let you know as workout went on the turns just went back to the old ways.  We then did 4x150's on 2:30 one of each stroke 50K/50D/50S.

After that it was our kick set.  50/100/150/100/50.  UGH!  I hate kicking.

We then moved on to 6x75's Odds IM and Evens Free.  These were all part of the warmup set.  I was dying.  The intervals were tough.  I forgot what the 75's were on but I was getting 3 seconds rest.

Main Set:
All Freestyle
100 on 1:15
2x100's Easy on 1:30
200 on 2:30
2x100's Easy on 1:30
300 on 3:45
2x100's Easy on 1:30
400 on 5:00
2x100's Easy on 1:30

My first 100 I was on about 1:05.  The 200 I did on about 2:20.  The 300 I did on about 3:30.  As for the 400 I didn't get my interval but now doing the math I think it was on a 4:40.  So pretty much I kept on a 1:10 base.

Our last set was 9x100's Free.  Lot's of free tonight!

100 easy on 1:20
100 broken 75 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 25 fast on 1:30
100 broken 50 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 50 fast on 1:40
100 broken 25 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 75 fast on 1:50
100 easy on 1:20
100 broken 75 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 25 fast on 1:30
100 broken 50 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 50 fast on 1:40
100 broken 25 easy / take 3 seconds rest / 75 fast on 1:50
100 all out.

By the 8th 100 my legs were cramping out.  The 50 fast was not fast at all.  I couldn't kick and I was trying to move my leg to work out the cramp.  The all out 100 was painful.  My legs were cramping, my arms were sore and all I was able to muster was a 1:04 for the 100.

This was a tough workout but I really liked it.  The warm up portion was a killer but the main set was a good one.  Now let's see how I feel when swimming tomorrow.
