14 Mile Morning Run

With 2 weeks and 1 day to my first 1/2 marathon I knew I had to run this morning.  I haven't run since Monday.  It's been too damn hot.  I had planned on running at night at two different run clubs but even at 6:30pm it was hot.  So this morning i figured i'd get up and run before it got hot.  The thing was that i got up around 6:30 and then didn't leave to 50 minutes later.  The sun was already making it pretty hot for such an early time.

Besided the sun I just felt sluggish.  The first mile felt horrible.  But the first mile always does so I kept singing along to the music and put the bad vibes away.  I ran along Santa Monica then headed south on a side street to get shade on my run.  I was going t run to LaBrea but felt that I'd be under the sun the whole time.  I ran to Wilshire then headed West.  The sun was on my back so i didn't really feel it.  I knew it was hot and I needed water soon so I headed to the park along Santa Monica Blvd as there are water fountains.  I headed east on SMB to Crescent.  Tunred north on Crescent to Sunset.

Took a break at the Will Rogers Park to get some water then back on to Cresent up to Lexington.  I then went along Lexington to Whiiter (i think that is the street).  Snaked around the Wilshire Country Club back to Wilshire.  East on Wilshire and then back East on Santa Monica stopping at every single water fountain.  I sorta planned my running route knowing that these water fountains are along the way.  It was getting warmer and it was taking it's toll.

At about 13.75 miles I had to stop and walk a bit a Palm.  The heat and sun were getting to me.  I took about two minutes to recover then finished up another .25 miles to get to 14 miles.  That was just past Starbucks so I walked the rest of the way as my cool down.
