Saturday's Swim Report - Gunning For Gold

Lane 2 - Nine posts (w/video) "Fantastic Four.  Gunning For Gold.  Men’s 4 X 100 Freestyle Relay.  Weekend TODAY’s Airlie Walsh spoke to our four swimmers hoping to take out the title at the London Olympics."

Lane 3 - Herald Sun posts "Matt Targett says he needed to give swimming everything before he could move on.  TOWERING relay weapon Matt Targett still vividly remembers the moment when 822413-68495793the ache of unfinished business exploded within him and set him on a hunt for an Olympic gold medal with Australia's hungry freestyle brotherhood."

Lane 4 - Herald Sun posts "Ian Thorpe back in training, bares his soul.  IAN Thorpe, Australia's most successful Olympian, is currently training at his Swiss base in preparation for next year's World Championships in Barcelona.  Barely sighted since failing to qualify in March for the London Olympics, Thorpe has returned to the pool and is training under Russian-born coach Gennadi Touretski.  A friend of Thorpe's confirmed he was training to compete at the World Championships. "That's the plan and it's all systems go," the friend said, adding that Thorpe was also "eyeing off" the 2014 Commonwealth Games."  Meanwhile posts "Swimming champion Ian Thorpe admits in TV interview to battling depression.  IAN Thorpe has used a new documentary to confess to bouts of depression and reveal he was just 15 when he discovered his popularity in the gay community.  In the film, Thorpe is asked if he sleeps with men or women. He pauses before answering: "Ah, women."

1624127Lane 6 - posts "Michael Phelps’ Sister Will Out-Cheer You Any Day.  When Michael Phelps beat Ryan Lochte in the 200m freestyle at the Olympic Trials, he wasn’t the only one excited.  The Phelps’ family went nuts when in a very close finish, Michael beat Ryan Lochte with a difference of only five one-hundredths of a second to seal his first Olympic trial victory over his rival.  Michael’s sister, Hillary Phelps (green pants), and mother, Debbie Phelps (left of Hillary), must be a little hoarse after all of that cheering!"

Lane 7 - Sports Grid asks "How Many Female Olympians Will Michael Phelps Sleep With, And Other Questions I Have About The “College-Style” Olympic Dorms."

Lane 8 - posts "Rival swimwear giants Speedo and Seafolly launch very similar summer campaigns.  Speedo has unveiled its summer collection campaign, starring Aussie beauty Rachael Finch, and we couldn't help thinking we'd seen the image before.  It turns out rival swimwear brand Seafolly featured Dutch model Marloes Horst striking the very same pose on a very similar beach in its last campaign."
