Friday's Swim Report - Catching Up

Since I've been spending my free computer time playing damn Facebook games such as Farmville, Treasure Isle, Cafe World and a few others I've been neglecting my RSS Reader and all my swimming news.  But I'm catching up and here are a few swim stories I've missed while out farming...

1.  Swim Coach Direct looks at "how important the underwater portion of a swim" with a video from California Summer Sectional Meet.

6a00e553c23b498833013485f27057970c-pi 2.  Gold Medal Mel then  and now via Charlotte Magazine with "Banana Hammock Memories".

3.  Swimming Science looks at "Start vs. Push-off".

4.  Swimming World reprints and interesting article from Brent Rutemiller about the behind the scenes of FINA in "FINA Must Not Hide Proposed Legislation; Must Include Coach On Bureau".

5.  Carrie Moore has an article on Swimming World on "Tips to Remain Entertained as a Swimming Fan".  A few fun tips to keep the boredom at bay during a swim meet.

6.  Hmm...it is lunch time so this story sounds yummy.  The Wobbly Block reports "Police foil ingenious plan to open burger bar in pool".

7.  Swimming World previews the 2010 USMS Summer LCM Nationals which take place August 9th - 12th.

8.  This is just a sad sad story.  When I heard it on the news I was shocked.  MSNBC reported "Six teens drown trying to save each other from Red River sinkhole".  What was even more shocking was  family and friends who also couldn't swim watched on land as the teens drowned.

9.  Kast-a-way Looks at the new Lochte Lochteshoepr3 Footwear collection from Speedo.  Warning:  Only view with sunglasses as bright colors may burn the retina's.

10.  In case I needed another excuse not to try open water swimming Swim At Your Own Risk reports "Shark Sightings Close Massachusetts Beaches… Again".

And those are a few things I missed in my month long lapse in swiim reports.  Still have more to read so hopefully I can avoid cooking in Cafe World.
