Lane 1 - From Bettor.com "Return of Ian Thorpe boosts Australia’s aim for a top-five finish at the 2012 London Olympics. With the comeback of Australian king, Ian Thorpe, Swimming Australia expects to achieve a top-five finish at the 2012 London Olympics. According to an analysis released by Australian Olympic Committee, Australia is likely to drop down to the eighth spot in the medal tally at the upcoming Olympic Games."
Lane 2 - Ultimate Swimming Enthusiast Gift? From BB&B "The Big Bobber® Floating Cooler. Don't want to get all the way out of the pool to grab a cold drink? Now you don't have to. This fun floating cooler holds up to 12 cans with ice. It's great for the pool, lake, boating, and more. It's a great gift for the swimming or fishing enthusiast." I don't know if I'd like a cooler bobbing in my lane but maybe the next lane over. Keeping my water chilled!
Lane 3 - Active.com asks "Does Pre-cooling Improve Race Performance? A recent photo of Adam Craig wearing an ice vest at the start of the hot 2011 Mellow Johnny's Pro XCT race raised some questions about pre-cooling for endurance events. Does pre-cooling really work and are these vests useful and practical? "
Lane 4 - Outsports posts "Diana Nyad, now 61, attempting to swim from Cuba to Key West this summer. This summer, at the age of 61, she will try to add to her sports legacy as she attempts the 103-mile swim from Cuba to Key West. Her last attempt at the crossing in 1978 was thwarted by bad weather. This time, she is waiting for the good weather to settle in and her crossing date is still unknown. The attempt alone is an incredible statement, and we wish her luck and good weather in this incredible feat!"
Lane 5 - From News-Press "Editorial: Give Fort Myers swim center a look. Most Lee County commissioners remain skeptical that the National Swim Center Corp. can make an aquatic center work at City of Palms Park, but they were right to order staff to move ahead with contract negotiations with the company."
Lane 6 - Examiner.com looks at "International Olympic Day will shine in Southern California. Sports - Education - Art is the official motto of the International Olympic Movement. This theme is commemorated on June 23, which is International Olympic Day around the world. Southern California is rich in events and attractions for everyone who wants to experience Olympic history. You can see both an Olympic event and many Olympic athletes at the opening of the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions sponsored by TYR. The contest will begin on International Olympic Day, June 23, and continue through Sunday June 26."
Lane 7 - While reading my weekly edition of BW I found this great ad from the Arthritis Foundation "Moving Is The Best Medicine."
Lane 8 - Red Tricycle looks at "Kids Swim Lessons in Los Angeles. There are swim lessons all over the Los Angeles area and at every level so you can find a class that will have your little water bug swimming like a fish."
