Lane 1 - Associate Press reports "Mass. pool where woman died had lapsed permit. The public swimming pool where a woman's body may have gone unnoticed by lifeguards, health inspectors and swimmers for more than two days had an expired permit. Investigators were poring over surveillance video and conducting interviews as they tried to figure out what happened to 36-year-old Marie Joseph. The state medical examiner completed an autopsy, but the findings haven't been made public." I still say there is much much more to this story.
Lane 2 - Guardian UK posts "Jodie Kidd and Mark Foster help launch swimming festival on Clapham Common. A fashion model teamed up with a six-time swimming world champion to launch a sporting festival on Clapham Common. Former Strictly Come Dancing stars Jodie Kidd and Mark Foster stopped by the common on Tuesday to celebrate the start of the British Gas Big Dip."
Lane 3 - The Eagle-Tribune posts "Andover residents in Swim Across America
Upcoming activities in the region include a swimming event to benefit children who have cancer."
Lane 4 - Xinhuanet posts "China names squad for FINA Swimming World Championships. China has named a 165-member squad for the Fina Swimming World Championships in Shanghai, announced by the Chinese Swimming Administrative Center Friday."
Lane 5 - Courier Mail posts "Nick D'Arcy withdraws from Australian Short Course Swimming Championships. NICK D'Arcy has withdrawn from the Australian Short Course Championships this morning. D'Arcy was listed to compete in the 200m butterfly heat but pulled out because of his ongoing court case with Simon Cowley in the NSW District Court. D'Arcy is being sued for damages of up to $750,000 and had previously pleaded guilty in the local court to recklessly causing grievous bodily harm over the incident where he struck Cowley at The Loft bar in Sydney's CBD."

Lane 7 - Swim At Your Own Risk reports "US Man Mauled by Shark in South Africa!"
Lane 8 - Mercury News reports "Coach, USA Swimming sued on sex abuse claims. The governing body of U.S. competitive swimming is facing another lawsuit claiming it did not protect a young swimmer from being sexually abused by her coach. The lawsuit announced Wednesday in San Jose accuses USA Swimming of negligence and says the organization was responsible for the coach's behavior. The suit alleges swim coach Norm Havercroft sexually abused plaintiff Jancy Thompson during a five-year period, beginning when she was about 15 years old at a swim club in Los Gatos."
