Wednesday's Swim Report - Be Like A Kid, Swim More!

Better late in the day then never.  As I do these Swim Reports during breaks in between work I sometimes run out of time.  Over the next three days I may be running out of time to do any swim reports.  But I'll try to post something.  Here is Wednesday's Swim Report...

Lane 1 - US Masters Swimming posts "Nationwide Insurance® Becomes Official Insurance Partner of U.S. Masters Swimming.  Nationwide Insurance has signed on as the official life and auto insurance sponsor of U.S. Masters Swimming, the national governing body for adult swimming in the United States. As part of the agreement, Nationwide will become title sponsor of the Nationwide USMS Spring National Championship, through 2018."

Lane 2 - Combos Brand posts "RYAN LOCHTE'S EPIC PIZZA DELIVERY.  Ryan Lochte swam the Hudson to bring COMBOS® Pizzeria Pretzel to hungry, adoring fans in what could be considered the Most Epic Pizza Delivery of all time.  Do you have an idea of how to make new COMBOS® 7 Layer Dip Tortilla even more epic? Tell us at http://bit.ly/ecombo5 and we may make your epic dream an epic reality."

Lane 3 - NBC News posts "German court rules Muslim girls must join swim classes. The decision by Germany's top court for public and administrative disputes signals that the state's constitutional obligation to educate children can take precedence over customs and practices linked to an individual's religious beliefs."

Lane 4 - NBC Sports posts "Olympic swim star Ye Shiwen rebounds at Chinese National Games.  China’s Ye Shiwen was one of the disappointments at the World Swimming Championships last month, failing to medal in the two events she broke Olympic records in at the London 2012 Siow Yi TingGames.  Ye, 17, was 11 pounds heavier this summer than last, she told The Associated Press at worlds in Barcelona, Spain."

Lane 5 - The Star Online posts "Olympian Yi Ting quits national team.  Siow Yi Ting has quit the national swimming team in what is a blow to the country just three months ahead of the Myanmar SEA Games.  Yi Ting, who has represented the country for more than a decade, has not only won a total of 10 gold medals in six SEA Games appearances but is also the only Malaysian female swimmer to compete in three Olympic Games."

Lane 6 - Calgary Herald posts "Former Olympic-calibre swimmer masters her return to the pool.  Lisa Dixon-Wells isn’t a big fan of water. “You know that feeling when you first jump in a pool?” she asks. “I hate it. I really hate getting wet.”  Once she’s in, though, it’s a whole different story. Several times a week, Dixon-Wells takes the dreaded plunge at the Calgary Winter Club and joins her fellow teammates from the Clippers, a local master’s swim club.  When she’s swimming, she’s not just a kid again, but a world-class athlete. Dixon-Wells is good — really good. In fact, she has a fist full of shiny new medals to prove it."

Lane 7 - Sol Republic posts "Michael Phelps X Steve Aoki.  SOL REPUBLIC Saviors of Sound Michael Phelps and Steve Aoki swap places! Can Aoki swim? Can Phelps spin? Why are they throwing so much cake? Watch the video to find out!"

Lane 8 - WEHOville posts "You Can Swim Alongside an Olympian at the Gay and Lesbian Center’s Beach Classic.  Openly gay Olympic swimmer Amini Fonua will be among those competing at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center’s Beach Classic on Sept. 14, the Center announced Tuesday.  Fonua will compete in the 2k open swim, which will be held along with a 5K run and volleyball tournament at Dockweiler Beach."
