Sunday's Swim Report - Meet The Kings And Queens Of The Swimming Universe

Lane 1 - The San Luis Obispo Tribune posts "Olympic star Missy Franklin makes Cal debut at Cal Poly swim meet.  So, Franklin’s college swimming career began Friday for Cal, and it kicked off in San Luis Obispo at Cal Poly’s King and Queen of the Pool meet."

Lane 2 - Aqualillies posts "Trying on Esther Williams' swimsuits.  Aqualillies at Esther Williams' house trying on suits from her collection."

Lane 3 - M Live posts "Davis Tarwater, Kara Lynn Joyce bring Olympic medals, experience to help Saginaw youth swimmers.  Davis Tarwater watched, just one of the many, as the four members of the United States 800-meter freestyle accepted their gold medals and listened to the Davis_tarwater_swim_tournational anthem at the 2012 London Olympics.  But the former University of Michigan swimmer knew that there were more than four swimmers and more than four gold medals.  Tarwater brought his gold medal to Heritage High School for the Fitter and Faster Swim Tour, a swim clinic Saturday that attracted 54 swimmers, ages 6 to 16."

Lane 4 - The Monitor posts "Olympian Soni makes impact on Valley swimmers.  On Saturday, Soni emphasized having fun and fundamentals. She implored her students to swim through their core, wade with the proper hand movements and fall forward in the water while not scrunching the shoulders.  Every September, McAllen Memorial swim coach Roxanne Balducci and the McAllen Swim Club bring in a prominent swimmer or coach to host a clinic. In previous years, Ricky Berens, Chloe Sutton, Brendan Hansen and Eddie Reese have made the trek."

Lane 5 - M Live posts "Olympic swimmers visit East Grand Rapids: 'We just want them to see the dreams that are in front of them'.   Olympic medal winning swimmers Brendan Hansen and Kim Vandenberg have competed all around the world and have shined in the sport’s biggest and hottest spotlights.  The two agreed Saturday that the pools that they are most comfortable in, though, are the ones in which they are teaching children how to best follow their own dreams.  The East Grand Rapids Waves Swim Club hosted the Mutual of Omaha Breakout Swim Clinic on Tracy_plungeSaturday at EGR High School, and Hansen and Vandenberg were guests. The two worked with over 100 children, providing instruction on performance techniques."

Lane 6 - Tracy Press posts "Of swimming pools past, future.  I tuned in the City Council meeting Tuesday night on Channel 26 and watched and listened to the discussion of what kind of an aquatic center could eventually wind up in Tracy.  And as several members of the council indicated, the discussion has gone on a long, long time without any decision being made to move the process along toward actual development.  The Tracy Plunge, shown in 1954, was a busy place during the summer months from its opening in 1931 through 1986, when it was closed with the opening of the community swimming pool — later named for Recreation Director Joe Wilson — in Dr. Powers Park."

Lane 7 - The Race Club posts "Fast Swimming Techniques - Flip Turn - The Flip.  In our second part of Fast Swimming Techniques Video Series on Flip Turns, Gary Hall Sr discusses 3 common mistakes made during the Flipturn along with swimming drills that can improve your own swim training program. Learn innovative swimming drills for the flipturn and know the proper position of the head, arms and feet. The Flipturn is the part of the Race where there is the greatest opportunity to gain on your competitors so take notes!"

Lane 8 - Timothy Dansie posts (w/video) "Video Letter/Vlog to my family back home during my trip to IGLA in Seattle for Water Polo.
