Trying That Swim Thing Again, Workout

Excuses, excuses and even more excuses.  I have enough of them to explain why I havn't been swimming much or even blogging about swim stuff.  Just not much time right now.  My last swim was June 26th!  Oy!  That was like years ago or at least it seems like it.  I love my job but finding time to swim in between teaching classes, working with clients and general fitness work at the gym is a bit tough.  My afternoon swims at lunch have been blocked by thunderstorms.  So right now any swim is better then no swim...

But I did make it to the pool this morning.  I slept in a bit as I knew the Sunday Swim Gang was going to be away for the 4th of July weekend.

HowtoboilaswimmerWarm Up:

300 Swim (100 free / 100 back / 100 free)

300 Kick

Main Set:

20x50's Pulling on 60. (1,000/1,600)  I did an easy set since the water was so warm.  Just wanted to swim.  I was tempted to do 30 or 40 of them but 20 seemed easy enough.  I felt some bad habits start to develop.

I just took it easy.

Stroke Set:

2x100's IM on 1:45 (200/1800)

I should have done them on 2 minutes and do 4 of them. Really just to round it to 2,000 yards.  I was feeling the warm water and my heart rate was up there.  Didn't need to kill myself.

My Progress for Go The Distance 2014
Month    Total Distance
Jan    2.76 miles (=4,850 yards, =4,435 meters)
Feb    4.15 miles (=7,300 yards, =6,675 meters)
Mar    5.82 miles (=10,250 yards, =9,373 meters)
Apr    7.41 miles (=13,050 yards, =11,933 meters)
May    13.59 miles (=23,926 yards, =21,878 meters)
Jun    5.60 miles (=9,850 yards, =9,007 meters)
Jul    1.02 miles (=1,800 yards, =1,646 meters)
Total    40.36 miles (=71,026 yards, =64,947 meters)

As you can see June wasn't a great month for swimming and July looks bad already.  I'm looking at my work cal for this week and I don't know if I can squeeze a swim in or not.  Maybe Monday and / or Wednesday afternoon if I'm lucky depending on weather.
