Bondi Rescue - Jesse Regrets Homophobic Comments from his Past | The Ride East Coast (Webisode 4)
Friday, October 17, 2014
Homophobia is a leading cause of depression and suicide in young people in Australia.
The Ride East Coast
Over the years, Bondi Lifeguards Jesse and Maxi have dealt with everything from self-harm to suicide, and retrieved the bodies of young people like them. Determined to do something about it, Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell, and Jesse Pollock set out on their Jet skis to ride 3,000 kilometres from Sydney to Cairns to raise awareness for Mental Health issues and show their support for Headspace Centres around the country.
Dave has overcome homophobia in his past. On the flip side, Jesse reflects on homophobic comments he made in his past. Now that he's older and some of his closest friends are gay - he realises and regrets the impact that those comments might have made.
