I will admit about half way during the IM Set I was ready to give up.  My body was beat.  But pushed it and finished it.  Luckily the intervals gave me plenty of rest to keep going.  At 3,000 yards that is the most I've swam in one workout all year long.

Yesterday I said it was my goal to swim 17,500 yards this month up from the previous goal of 15,000 yards.  Now I'm aiming for 20,000 yards!  


It's The 50 Workout

Took a workout I did that was left to me by some of the swimmers in the area and modified it for my morning swim.

Warm Up
500 Swim

6x50's Kick on 60 (300/800)

6x50's Pull on 60 (300/1100)

6x50's Swim on 60 (300/1400)

Main IM Set:
4 Rounds
4x50's IM Switches (Fly/Back, Back/Breast, Breast/Free and Free/Fly)
2x50's Kick
All on 60 with an extra 30 seconds in between each round.
So that set was 4 Rounds of 300 yards or 1,200 yards. (1200/2600)

Not Bad, Not Great! My Garmin Swim is not working so I'm calling it dead. Can't go out and buy a new watch right now so I used my iPhone as my clock using stopwatch feature. Not perfect but it works.

And with that workout November pulls out in the lead for 2016.  I'm going to do my best to swim tomorrow.  I'll have to look at some old workouts and print something out.  I may or may not be starting a new job next week so swimming next week and into December is in flux.  So get my swims in now while I can.  My goal was to swim 15,00 yards in the month which I've done.  Now can I hit 17,500?


Brrrrr..Morning Swim

On any other morning I would have been happy with the water temp this morning as it was estimated to be at about 78F but today the outside temp was 37F.  Which made my swim less of a workout and more of a lap swim.  Basically I swam a 1,000 yards then pulled a 1,000 yards.  That was it.  2,000 Yards for the morning before my body was too cold to go on.

Another Quick Swim

Well my Garmin Swim seems to be really dead as it's just eating batteries as it won't stay programmed.  I may just let it sit and put in a new battery in a week or so.  That's worked before.  So since I really didn't have much time this morning I swam without any timer for intervals.  No biggie.  I'll use my iPhone for a timer next week.

Brrrr...48F outside this morning.  On deck I had to rush getting my gear set at the end of my lane.  Other then that I did the same workout as yesterday but instead of being 500 yard base it was a 400 yard base at faster interval.

So 1,600 yards in about 30 minutes or maybe a tad less than 30 minutes.

A Tad Bit Longer Short Swim Workout

I haven't swam on a Wednesday in some time so it was great to roll up to the pool and have it opened early today.  I was able to squeeze in an extra 500 yards.  I think I can start swimming faster intervals or more yardage.  Slowly building back.

5x100's on 2 Minutes.  Those were slow a 1:30-ish then the last one a little faster.

So 2,000 yards.  Not great but slowly building back.

1,600 Quick Yards.  I was a bit tired on those flies.  Oh well.  Since I had replaced the battery but didn't fully enclose the back of my Garmin Swim it seems to be slowly giving up.  Right now only the stopwatch function is working so I don't have my intervals.

Ugh!  My Garmin Swim is on the fritz again.  I so want to try another swim watch but right now can't afford to spend the money.  I tried to reset the Garmin but it's not accepting pool length.  It did this before and then magically fixed itself.  I was able to use the stopwatch function to keep on an interval.

Back to the pool after a week off.  Had the Disney Food and WIne 1/2 Marathon this Sunday so didn't know if swimming would happen this morning.  But it did.  Only 30 minutes as I need to get to work.

Back to the work week means short swims.  I actually didn't know if my legs would hold up as I did about 2 1/2 hours interval training on the treadmill yesterday getting ready for the Epcot Food & Wine Half Marathon this Sunday.  I had a client cancel so in the morning I did 30 minutes alternating 2 1/2 mins walk and 2 1/2 run.  My run isn't that fast.  For the 2 hour run I did the first 30 minutes the same as above the second 30 minutes I did 3 minute walk and 2 minute run, the third 30 minutes back to the same as the first, then 20 minutes 3 walk and 2 run, the last 10 minutes I started doing 30/30 then 1 min / 1min.  I'll do that again on Wednesday.  As for today it's weight training class in a bit so here was the quick am swim:
