Rearview Mirror: My October Workouts

Here is October by the numbers:

Well October wasn't a big running or workout month.  I ran 10 times for a total of 62.35 miles.  Not as much as September but not so bad.  I'm a bit behind in my training for the Walt Disney Marathon but I will hopefully make up some runs this month.  My excuses for not running are lame so I just need to be more dedicated. I ran today for the first time in a week.  Oy!  So not good.

My shoe meter is reminding me it's almost time to get new running shoes.  Which I will be doing later this month as I'm waiting for a sale.

As for swimming...

Well I swam once for 2,700 yards.  One lone lap swim workout which was the first time I swam in two months.  But at least it was a start.  My lack of swimming has more to do with where I'm living then just being lazy.  I could have tried to make a 5:15am coached workout a few towns away but really that didn't seem realistic.  I couldn't swim at one of the sport pools around here till I became a resident which happened on Friday.  So now I can go do lap swims for free 7 days a week from 7am to about 7pm.  So I have no excuse.  Now there is a Masters Team but they only have a 9am workout which I will try to attend from time to time this month.  But I have to wait to a Tuesday that I can go at 11:30am to "try out" for the team.  And even then I'll be on the regular workout "squad" and be on the waiting list for the more "competitive" workout "squad".  I really don't know what that all means but at least I'll be swimming.

Compared to past months:

September I swam zip, nada, nothing
August I swam 25,000 SCY
July I swam 49,900 SCY
June I swam 43,650 SCY and 4,000 LCM
May I swam 55,000 SCY
April I swam 46,050 SCY
February I swam 53,250 SCY
January I swam 46,750 SCY

293,125 SCY's for 2010.

Swimming Again (batteries not included)

For the first time since August I was able to swim in a pool with lane lines and that was 25 yards.  In fact I had my very own lane.  Of course I'm so out of shape!  I was sore by the end of my warm up.  Two months of not swimming will do that to a person!  That and the afternoon sun was beating right down on me.  The plus side will be an awesome speedo tan!

Warm Up

Then I helped put in two lane lines so walking down 2x25's and swim 2x25's back so let's chalk that up as a 100.

300 Kick

300 Pull

100 Swim

So 1,100 warm up.

Now since I thought they had set up the pool I went back to find one of the clocks.  And I did find three clocks but no batteries.  Guess next time if I want to do interval training I'll need to bring my own batteries.  Since I am out of shape I really didn't care.  Was just curious what I was able to swim.

3 Rounds:

100 Swim

100 Kick

100 Pull

No interval since I didn't think of brining batteries to the pool.  So that was another 900 yards to make it 2,000 yards.

I then decided to try out a few pair of my new goggles from Ministry of Swimming.  I already had been wearing a pair of the Zombie Silver for the warm up.  Gotta admit I liked them.  Out of all the pairs the Zombie was my favorite.  So I did about 4 or more 50's but let's say 4 trying on the different goggles and swimming.  (200/2200)  I then went back to the Zombie Silver goggles to swim a bit more.  I'll have to give them all one full workout each before I judge them although I think I have two favorites already.

3x100's Pull

100 IM swim

Then I did 3x25's underwater / no breathing.  Then 1 more 25 easy.

2,700 measily little yards.  But it's a start.  Rebuilding!  I'm going to try a few more lap swims on my own before I start swimming with the local team.  But now that I'm an official resident I can use the lap pool for free so swimming is back on!

Lazy Days

This morning I had planned on running.  Had the alarm go off at 4:45am but decided to hit snooze one too many times.  Then around 6am I heard the trash pick up but just rolled over.  Later on around 8:30 I decided to get out of bed.  I debated on going running but instead ate breakfast.  Standing, walking and going up and down ladders all day at my crap part-time job is making me lazy.  My legs were sore when I woke up.  Damn it.  I want to run tomorrow but working to 1am then back at work at 9am.  Grrr...may try to run anyways.  Get 3 hours sleep and try to stay awake at work tomorrow.

The good news is that I have an eye appointment on Friday which means new contacts!  Wahoo!  Then get a drivers lic. so I can swim a the residents swim pool here which is a lap pool with lap swim hours almost all day!  Finally I can start swimming again.  I so can't wait as I am so out of shape.

Rearview Mirror: My September Workouts

Here is September by the numbers:

In September I ran 16 times for 105.21 miles.

Compared to past months:

August I ran 3 times for 27.23 miles.

July I ran 15 times for 66.54 miles

June I ran 12 times for 15.92 miles

May I ran 1 times for 3.08 miles.

April I ran 16 times for 28.23 miles.

March I ran 18 times for 91.35 miles.

February I ran 18 times for 75.14 miles.

January I ran 24 times for 124.97 miles.

On average September was my most miles per run.  It also was the 2nd most miles in a month for 2010 and the 3rd most miles in a month ever.  I am impressed just because of the humidity here in Florida make running horrible.  I've been waking up at 4:45am to get myself together to run before the sun comes up.  Luckily it'll cool down so October should be a good running month.  I will be doing the Disney World Marathon in January so I gotta keep running.
Sept2010

As for swimming...

Umm…swimming?  Remember Swimming?  Well, sorta I do.  For the month of September I have swam 0 yards and 0 meters.  I did go noodling in the pool one day.  Right now I don't have access to a local Masters team or lap swim pool.  That will change in a few weeks so I'll be back in the pool.  When I was playing around in the fun rec pool I gotta admit that I'm so out of shape.  In one month I just lost the ability to swim at any speed.  I can't go to much longer without swimming.  I may even force myself to swim at a local Masters meet just to get in some pool time.  But that is up in the air.

Compared to past months:

August I swam 25,000 SCY
July I swam 49,900 SCY
June I swam 43,650 SCY and 4,000 LCM
May I swam 55,000 SCY
April I swam 46,050 SCY
February I swam 53,250 SCY
January I swam 46,750 SCY

290,425 SCY for 2010.

I didn't bike ride at all this month but I did use a visitor pass at a local gym for one day.  I'm going to be soooo fat at this rate.
