Back In the Pool The October Edition

IWahoo! A Swim!  That is two in one week.  Although today was cut short as pool time on Tuesday is limited, I chatted a bit IMG_2606and got a little shoulder impingement due to bad stroke technique.  

Warm Up

IM Set:

4x50's on 60 IM Switches (200)

100 IM on 1:45 (100/300)

100 Kick Easy (100/400)

Was going to  repeat the set...

Got in one 50 switch...chatted...(50/450)

4x100's IM on 1:45 (I think) or was it 2 minutes?  Ugh (400/850)

100 easy kick (100/950/2150)

4x50's Free swim on 45 (200/2350)

And that was it....I'll try swimming tomorrow...

I joined a few swim mates for the workout today.  It was lots of drill.  I did the 400 twice as I started a bit before them. (1300)

3x50's Free (150/1450)

6x75's Choice Drill/Kick/Swm (650/2100)

5x100's Free keeping up with the leader for first 75 ten 25 fast.  we each took turns leading as there was 5 of us (500/2600)

5x100's Choice by leader.  1st one was breast, then some drill and kick backsroke, umm...more kick back, then I picked reverse IM then one fly drill/kick) (500/3100)

I warmed down a 100 for 3,200 yards.

Back In The Water, Yet Again...

Excuses!  Okay so it's been 2 weeks and 2 days since the last time I was in the pool but a week of that was post Irma and the pool was closed.  The last week was just me being lazy in the morning.  Oh well.  I headed to the pool today with the hopes that the swim gang would be there and I'd get in a workout but in the back of my head I thought if they didn't I'd do a quick swim and then swim tomorrow.  I know if I had swam with the gang I'd be too sore to swim tomorrow.

Let's hope I can get two or three workouts in this week.  I'd like to break August lackluster yardage.  Looking at my yearly yardage to date looks like my old monthly yardage totals.  Oh well.  I will admit the last week I've been doing nothing for workouts on dryland or in the pool.  I feel like I just want to eat icecream and become fat.  I know this feeling will pass so any swim I can get in will help me get past this hump.

I really had hoped I'd have to Sunday morning to swim.  I had planned a short workout today, tomorrow and longer on Sunday.  Oh Well.  My fault for not swimming this past week.  Lot's of excuses.  Once the pool reopens I'll be back even if it's short swims.  Hopefully by Wednesday/Thursday.  Or I'll just start swimming in the streets till I hit dryland somewhere around Georgia.

bThis morning I woke up and put together a workout from a past workout.  Modified due to my slowness and laziness.  Once at the pool I ran into some swim mates who were already doing a workout.  I jumped in and did mostly my own thing except for some 25's. 

My Workout:

Pull / Kick Freestyle:

4x100’s Kick on 2:10 (400)

4x100’s Pull on 1:50 (400/800)

4x75’s Kick on 1:30 (300/1100) (it was more like 2x150's as I couldn't see the clock)

4x75’s Pull on 1:15 (300/1400) (it was more like 2x150's as I couldn't see the clock)

4x50’s Kick on 1:10 (200/1600)

4x50’s Pull on 50 (200/1800/2200)

 

This is when I jumped in for some 25's...

16x25's on 40.  I did them fly/back (400/2600)

Back to what I had planned but now modified due to swimming some fly already...

After my swim the other day I sure was tired today!  Oy!  I ached in parts I forgot I had.  But it's all good.

Perfect Day for an Outside Swim

Perfect day for a swim.  Good thing I slept in as the pool was closed this morning for monthly cleaning and what have you.  I got to the pool for 12pm for the lap swim figured I'd swim an hour before lunch.  I typed up a workout but do to time didn't finish it all.

The first half I took a bit of extra rest chatting it up with some of the swim regulars. Stayed on intervals but chatted in between kick and pull.

I was going to swim more but it was 1pm and I was hungry.  My fault as I didn't each much for breakfast just two slices of toast with preserves and two cups of coffee.  But 2,200 yards isn't bad.  The water was nice and cool as all the rain yesterday cooled it off.  I've been getting a little more swim time in swimming about a 1,000+ yards three times a week after I work with my clients in aqua therapy.  Since I'm in the pool I stay after while they get dressed then I have time to help them exit the facility with their scooters, wheelchairs or whatever.
